A concrete finisher smooths and finishes freshly poured concrete, applying curing, or surface treatments, as well as installs, maintains, and restores masonry structures, such as floors, walls, and sidewalks. Further duties are as follows:
Drives to and from construction sites located throughout the Greater Vancouver Area
Protects self and others by following procedures that are safe
Communicates effectively, is flexible, and discusses and resolves issues
Uses tools and equipment associated with concrete finishing to:
Fill hollows and remove high spots to smooth freshly poured concrete
Level top surface of concrete according to grade and depth specifications using straightedge or float
Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Access to a vehicle/transportation, as required to travel to and from a variety of job sites around the Greater Vancouver Area
Good physical strength and stamina to use proper lifting techniques required to shovel and move heavy wet concrete at times in excess of 25 kilograms
Manual dexterity and a good sense of balance
Availability and willingness to work flexible hours with varying start/finish times including Saturday shifts - required to work long hours, typically graveyard-like hours
Must be able to effectively work within a crew; teamwork skills
Must have proper personal protective gear (steel-toe rubber boots, hard hat, protective glasses, vest, glasses)
3 to 5 years’ experience concrete finishing
Experience working with a variety of concrete tools (walk-behind and ride-on power trowels, etc.)
